Fahima Hashim, SCAO Director
Fahima is a feminist and women’s activist for over 25 years, experienced in action research and feminist training and movement building, women and peace and VAW in Sudan, and movement building. Fahima is devoting her life to promote radical change for women/young women and their place in society.
Currently, Fahima works for the Nobel Women’s Initiative (NWI) an Ottawa-based organization as a consultant for organizing a series of international events, highlighting the crucial role played by the Women Human Rights Defenders in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA Region). As well Fahima is mentoring two young feminist groups as part of the Sister to Sister Program organize by NWI. Board member of Nazra for Studies and Research works with women in the MENA Region, and an Advisory Board member of the Doria Feminist Fund (first feminist fund for women in the MENA region). She was a visiting scholar at York University, Toronto in 2015 associated with the Feminist Research Centre.
She served as the Director for Salmmah Women’s Resource Centre which was forcibly closed by the Sudan government in June 2014. She is a graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, where she obtained her Masters’s in Documentation and Library Sciences. She also holds a degree in Psychology from Ahfad University for Women, Omdurman, Sudan. Fahima has over 20 years of experience in the area of women/gender rights, with a special emphasis on violence against women, feminist theory, sexuality, and peace. Fahima is an experienced feminist campaigner who is well connected with the African women’s movement. She has demonstrated her commitment to be a strong leader and facilitator for positive social change.
Mahdi Ahmed, Office of Culture and Heritage
Mahdi Ahmed graduated from Khartoum university 2003, holding 3 year diploma in Sales and Marketing Management, experience in Sales and customer service worked as a sales representative at the Elli group in Sudan 2003, Akasya Development & Oil Khartoum 2007 as Deputy Director,
He worked as Marketing Manager at Marfi Cargo& clearance in Dubai 2012, Dispatch for a transportation company in Dallas TX 2014. Volunteered with Sudanese American Association Of North Texas For 5years, two of which worked as Cultural Secretary of the Executive Committee Of SAANTX. Currently working in Ferrovial Services Ottawa as Road Technician & proud to be volunteering in SCAO
Waddaha Medani, Office of Youth
Waddaha Medani is a Personal Banking Associate at The Toronto Dominion Bank. Waddaha has 7+ years of experience in Customer Service and Office Administration. She is skilled in Sales, Time Management, and Customer Service. She is a graduate of Nipissing University, North Bay, ON, Canada, where she obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration – BBA focused in Finance. She is currently volunteering with the Sudanese Canadian Association of Ottawa, and her role is to manage the SCAO Youth Office.
Ehab Taha, Office of Sports and Music
Ehab Taha is a senior IT Operations Architect with over 23 years of deep expertise in different IT platforms, Development, Scripting, Automation, Networking & Security, SAN/NAS Storage subsystems, Management of multi-brand Physical Servers, Azure Cloud implementation, and VMWare Virtual infrastructures administration and Hybrid tasks automation. Very detailed result-focused, entrepreneurial and technical, progressive leadership in IT technical services delivery based on best of best practices, lean operating methods, and incentive-driven rewards for team achievement.
He is currently working for the Public Works and Government Services as Lead Cloud Consultant deploying multi-million dollar cloud projects for the entire federal government sub-entities. Besides, he also works for the Government of Nunavut as IT Operations Consultant to help to manage the IT Server infrastructure within the territory. He is very proud to serve the Sudanese community here in the National Capital Region area
